Best Social Media Schedulers for Entrepreneurs

Creating Social Media Content can be super time consuming. You've probably heard of Social Media Schedulers! Are you wondering what is the best social media scheduler for entrepreneurs?

In this blog post, I will break it down for you!

  • Why use a social media scheduler?
  • Who should be using a social media scheduler?
  • When to using a social media scheduler?
  • What are the best social media schedulers?
  • How to get started with social media scheduling?

What is a social media scheduler?

A social media scheduler is a tool, website or app that will allow you to create a number of social media posts, and then publish each of them at a different time in the future.

Why use a social media scheduler?

Whenever I recommend systems, I always want to first dive into WHY you should be using the system. So why should you use a social media scheduler?

Here's a video I did in my group a while ago that goes into the why of using social media schedulers:

Here are the biggest benefits of using a social media scheduler:

  1. It allows you to batch create your content. Let's say you use Pinterest. It is recommended to pin often and throughout the day. If you don't use a scheduler, you would need to log on to Pinterest many times during the day, which is super time consuming and hardly possible if you are an entrepreneur. With a scheduler, you can sit down once a week to create a batch of pins, and then schedule them, so they go live throughout the days, so you still have optimal visibility.
  2. It allows you to post content on the time that your audience are live. Maybe your audience is active when you are spending time with your family, or when you are sleeping. You can choose to post at times when they are not online, but that will lead to way less engagement on your posts. Instead, you can use a scheduler, so your posts go out while you sleep (or work haha).
  3. Some schedulers allow you to put your posts on evergreen. This means that your posts will be added to a queue of posts, and once your queue has been posted, it re-starts the same queue. Since only a fraction of your audience will see each posts, this give you a chance to show your valuable content to them once again.
  4. You can schedule important posts ahead of time so you don't forget
  5. It creates more consistency. The algorithms, as well as your followers, love it when you create content on a predictable schedule. You will get more views this way and more loyal followers.
  6. You can easily schedule daily or weekly posts. For example, in my Facebook Group, I have a weekly Q&A thread on Mondays. I use my scheduler to automatically post that thread, so I don't even have to think about it ever.

So yes, I am a big fan of using schedulers! There's also a BAD reason for using schedulers, and that is if you think this is a way for you to batch your content and then never think about your social media channels ever again. That's not how it works, creating the content is step 1, step 2 is engaging with the people that like or comment, and that is as important as creating the content. So please don't make the mistake of thinking you can put your posting on auto-pilot!

Who should be using a social media scheduler?

BEFORE using a social media scheduler, it is very important to first get really clear on your message and audience: who are you talking to and what is your message to them? If you need help with that, then check out my coaching services

Other than that, I recommend using schedulers to all entrepreneurs. That said, some schedulers can be quite expensive, so if your budget is limited, then schedulers wouldn't be the first thing I'd invest in (I would first invest in website and email marketing). I will be discussing both free and paid options in the next section, so you can schedule, even if you don't have a big budget.

What is the best social media scheduler

That's a great question! I've found that there is no 1 system that can do all the social media platforms well, so I will recommend the best overal scheduler, followed by specific schedulers for specific platforms.

Disclosure: this post contains affiliate links. This means, that if you'd decide to sign up for a system through my link, I will receive a small commission at no additional charge for you.

Best overall social media scheduler

Of all the schedulers I've tried (and I've tried quite a few haha) Smarterqueue is the best overall scheduler. If you want to use just 1 tool that can do Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter, then Smarterqueue is my recommendation.

It can do all the platforms, it can do evergreen posts (recycle your posts) and you can create categories of posts. For example, you can say: every Monday, I want to do a "quote". Then you create posts with the category "quote" and every Monday, one of those quotes will be published.

Smarterqueue starts from $16.99 a month and it has a free trial. You can sign up for a trial through my link, and you will get double the regular trial period.

What's the best (free) post scheduler for Facebook?

If you are looking for a free social media scheduler for Facebook, then Facebook Creator Studio is a good alternative. It has nice scheduling options, but it cannot do evergreen posts.

If you have a budget, then I recommend Smarterqueue  (see above).

What's the best (free) post scheduler for Instagram?

If you are looking for a free social media scheduler for Instagram, then Facebook Creator Studio is a good alternative. It also allows you to import your Instagram DM inbox, so you can answer both your Facebook and Instagram messages in 1 interface.

As a paid solution, I recommend Later. Later is a tool that has been developed specifically for Instagram. It can autopublish to instagram, it has an option to collect content from competitors or collaborators, and, very important, it has a very neat tool that will allow you to add a link to each of your posts, which is quite amazing.

Their free version has pretty good functionality, so I recommend you check that out. The paid versions start from $9 a month.

What's the best tweet scheduler for Twitter?

For Twitter, like for Facebook, I recommend Smarterqueue. I must say that I am not super active on Twitter, so I haven't tried it in much detail.

What's the best post scheduler for LinkedIn?

And for Linkedin, I also recommend Smarterqueue. It let's you post both to your personal profile and your business page.

What's the best post scheduler for Pinterest?

Last but not least: Pinterest! For Pinterest, I 100% recommend you use a scheduler. The best scheduler I've found is Tailwind. It is a tool that has been developed specifically for Pinterest and it has a lot of functionality specifically for Pinterest. It allows you to publish pins throughout the day, collaborate with other Pinners in so called "Tribes" for more reach, and you can put your pins in evergreen in so called "smartloops". Definitely worth the investment! It starts at $9.99 a month.

So those were my recommendations for schedulers!

How to get started with social media scheduling

To get started with social media scheduling you need:

  • a system (see above)
  • a sound social media content strategy (knowing who you talk to, and what your message is and what types of content you need to put out in order to actually make money from your social media).

If you need help getting started with your social media marketing, then you can schedule a social media intensive with Paulien now.
